SHAW WOMEN’S TENNIS BEAT BOWIE

The Shaw University Women’s Tennis Team took possession of a road win
after their conference clash with the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bears beat Bowie 6 – 3. Shaw Women’s Tennis record is now 6 – 4
Overall and 4 – 1 CIAA.
Shaw won the first four of the six singles; of which sophomore Xania Steele (5 – 8 / Gaithersburg, MD / Political Science) served a shutout defeating her opponent 6 – 0 / 6 – 0. In the doubles competition, freshman Livia Oliveria (5 – 8 / Sao Paulo, Brazil / Business Administration) and senior Juanique Thompson (5 – 9 / Montego Bay, Jamaica / Business Administration) teamed up to win their match 8 – 2. Shaw’s final victory was via an 8 – 1 win in the second doubles match by Steele and junior Kim Moore (5 – 9 / Bayshore, NY / International Relations).
