WINGATE WOMEN DEFEAT SHAW 9-0 TUESDAY AFTERNOON

 

Wingate, NC The Wingate women’s tennis team defeated Shaw University 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Wingate University tennis facility.

 

Bulldog senior Sydney Pallesen paced the Bulldogs by winning the number one singles match 6-2, 6-1 over senior Monique Lawson (Montego Bay, Jamaica).

 

In the number one doubles position, Hollyn Alberghini and Pierce Dillard teamed up to defeat Lawson and Juanique Thompson (Montego Bay, Jamaica) 8-2.

 

Thompson, Xania Steele (Gaithersburg, MD), Kim Moore (Bayshore, NY), Jasmine Rivera (Jacksonville, NC), and Kiaria Henderson (Washington, DC) also loss their singles matches for the Lady Bears.

 

The Bulldogs improve to 2-10 overall with the victory and will travel to USC Aiken for the next match on Friday at 2 p.m. Shaw drops to 1-4 overall, and will host St. Paul’s College on Thursday at 1 p.m.
