SHAW TENNIS TEAMS SET FOR MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL PLAY


Complete National Tennis Tournament Bracket   Men/Women

Raleigh, NC – Last weekend (April 23) the Shaw University men’s and women’s tennis teams won the 2006 CIAA Tennis Championships and received the automatic bid for the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.  The NCAA has released the pairings and tournament sites for the national tournament and both teams will travel to Savannah, GA.  The tournament dates are Thursday, May 4 and Friday May 5. 

Both teams will take on host Armstrong Atlantic State in the first round of regional action.  The Lady Bears will face the defending national champions Armstrong Atlantic State on Thursday, May 4^th at 9:00 am and the Bears will take on Armstrong Atlantic at 2:00 p.m. 

This will be the Bears second consecutive trip and the Lady Bears first trip to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional.  Last year the Bears were defeated 7-0 by Armstrong Atlantic in the first round. 

Joining Armstrong Atlantic and Shaw in the regional tournament is Francis Marion and Georgia College & State University in women’s action and Anderson College and Francis Marion in men’s play.
