SOFTBALL CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
Petersburg, VA - The Lady Bears softball team competed in the CIAA tournament in Petersburg, VA. Shaw won its first game against North Carolina Central 8-0. The Lady Bears moved on to the second round of tournament play and were edged out by Johnson C. Smith 6-4 and Bowie State 10-6. During the tournament, Shonda Welch, Kelly Howard, and Branda Best were named to the CIAA All-Conference first team. Tanesha Haynes was named to the CIAA All-Conference second team. On the All-Rookie team for Shaw were Branda Best and Andrea Blake. Best, Welch, and Howard were also named to the All-Tournament team.
