SHAW FALLS 21-1 and 12-2 to BARTON IN SOFTBALL ACTION
LaKida Whestone hits two-run Homerun in game two
RALEIGH,
NC –
The Lady Bears of Shaw University fall to 0-12 on the
season after two losses to the Lady Bulldogs of Baton College (10-15)
1-20 and 2-12 today in a double-header Softball action.
In the first game the Lady Bulldogs would score first off an error by the second baseman and form that point on Barton would rack up four more runs in the first inning. Shaw was not going out without a fight as they score 1 run on 2 hits. The third inning proved to be horrible for the Lady Bears as Barton scored eight runs which sealed the deal on the Lady Bears for the afternoon. Shaw just could not bounce back after the third inning as the game would end in five innings. The Lady Bears lone run was scored by Joia King in the forth inning.
In the second game Shaw would put up more of a fight as LaKida Whetstone would hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the forth to make the score 2-8 in favor of Barton College. It seemed no matter what the Lady Bears did it was not enough to hold off Barton. Barton would prevail in the second game with a score of 12-2 to complete the sweep over the Lady Bears.
Shaw will be back in action on Thursday, March 22nd as host the Blue Bears of Livingstone College at 1:00 pm at Walnut Creek. For more information contact the Office of Sports Information at mwilliams@shawu.edu
