Shaw Softball Seeded 4th in CIAA Softball Championship

 

Raleigh, NC – After a hard fight throughout the season the Lady Bears of Shaw University have claimed a spot in this year’s CIAA Softball Championship. The Lady Bears will be a No. 4 seed in the east and will face the No. 1 seed in the west, the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University, on Thursday, April 19 at 12:00 a.m. During the regular season the Lady Bears fell to the Lady Eagles early during the year in double-header action.

 

The Lady Bears finished the regular season with an overall record of 9-19 and a 9-11 in the CIAA.  Headed into the tournament the Lady Bears are ranked No. 1 in Division II and No. 1 in the CIAA in stolen bases with 5.7 stolen per game. They are also No. 6 in the CIAA in scoring on the year. Leading the Lady Bears is Joia King, who is No. 2 in Division II and No. 2 in the CIAA with 1.25 stolen bases per game.
