SHAW VS. ELIZABETH CITY STATE UNIVERSITY
 

Shaw and Elizabeth City State split a doubleheader, with Shaw winning the first game 3-2 and Elizabeth City State winning the second game 16-8 at Sanderford Road Park.  With the split, the Lady Bears have won the Eastern Division crown and are 14-17, 14-4 in the CIAA, 8-2 in the division. 

With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Joia King singled up the middle scoring Andrea Blake giving Shaw the victory.  Felicia Sprattley picked up her 11th victory of the season going seven innings, scattering seven hits, giving up one earned run while striking out four. 


Sprattley helped her cause in the bottom of the third with a two-out RBI triple which scored King giving the Lady Bears the 1-0 lead.  The Lady Vikings tied the score in the top of the fourth with an RBI single scoring Shaneetha Holley.  The Lady Vikings scored again in the sixth as Smith singled with two outs, again scoring Holley and giving the Lady Vikings a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Lavonia Cromartie's single scored Branda Best, tying the score at 2-2 and setting up King's game-winning hit.

 In game two, the Lady Vikings jumped out to a 8-0 first inning lead, aided by four Lady Bear errors.  Shaw would get three runs of their own in the first, but the Lady Vikings scored five more in the second.  Holley and Smith continued their damage, both going 3-for-4.  Catashia McCormick went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI.
