SHAW VS. SAINT AUGUSTINE'S COLLEGE
 

Shaw defeated cross-town rival St. Augustine's 24-3 and 18-2 in doubleheader softball action. 

In game one, the Lady Bears broke the game wide open in the second inning as Shena Gunnell-Clark, Branda Best and Andrea Blake went back-to-back-to-back with homeruns, with Gunnell-Clark's of the grand slam variety.  Felicia Sprattley also had a grand slam in the inning capping of the Lady Bears 14-run, 12-hit inning.  Best and Blake finished the game with two homeruns each, as best went 4-for-4 with 6 RBI and three runs scored.  In her first start of the season, freshman Aerial Sanders pitched five innings, giving up only four hits, three runs, while striking out four.

In game two, Gunnell-Clark and Lavonia Cromartie had two homeruns a-piece.  Gunnell-Clark finished 3-for-3 with 6 RBI and three runs scored, while Cromartie was 2-for-3 with 6 RBI and three runs scored.
