SOFTBALL PLAYERS AND COACH GETS CIAA AWARDS

Of the five weekly softball honors
that the CIAA gives out, the Lady Bears received four of the honors including
Player of the Week, Picher of the Week, Offensive Player of the Week and Coach
of the Week.
Shortstop Felicia Sprattley was
named CIAA Player of the Week after batting .487 with two homeruns and 13
RBI. She recorded five triples and four doubles to boot and had a
slugging percentage of 1.000. The sophomre from Halifax, VA currently
leads the team in batting (.413).
Pitcher Shonda Welch was named CIAA Pitcher of the Week. The senior from
Halifax, VA had a dominating week going 5-0 with one save and an ERA of
0.97. She struck out 41 and opponents batted only .074 against her.
Welch, last year's CIAA Player of the Year, is 5-5 with and ERA of 3.29.
She is also batting .306 with 24 RBI.
Dishondra Goree was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week. The senior
from Fort Wayne, IN batted .577with one homerun and 15 RBI. Her four
doubles and four triples helped her to have a slugging percentage of
.923. Goree is batting .403 with 7 HR and 23 RBI. She has a
slugging percentage of .952.
Dianthia Ford-Kee was named CIAA Coach of the Week as the Lady Bear went a
perfect 10-0 last week to run their record to 11-12.
