Lady Bears Drop to #15
With an early #4 national ranking, the Lady Bears were upset at the buzzer by Tuskegee (82-80) and in the Holiday Isle Classic by Emporia State which dropped them down to the #15 spot of the ESPN/USAToday/WBCA National Poll.  With five non-conference games remaining before the brutal CIAA run, the Lady Bears are still in good shape to make a run back into the top five in the country.

The early test for the Lady Bears was a big learning experience that gave Coach Jacque Curtis a big indication his 2005-06 squad will still be in contention to make another run for the CIAA title.

Without the services of defensive ace senior Jenna Bradford (Baltimore, MD) and the inside addition of Nicky Souter (Brooklyn, NY) and Tavia Clemendor (Danville, VA), the Lady Bears were not at full force.  All three will join the team for the second half of the season, which will definitely add experience to the defensive and inside production.  Going into the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lady Bears were ranked #4 in the country and took an impressive 2-1 mark into the prestigious Holiday Isle Classic in Islamorada, FL and were upset in the championship game by #9 Emporia State (KS) 84-67.  Chanae Early (SR/Atlanta, GA) paced the Lady Bears in the championship game with 24 points and was named to the All Tournament Team.

Holiday Isle Classic TV Schedule
The Championship game will be televised tape delayed on Sun Sports at 10pm on December 6th , 3:30 pm December 7th , and Midnight on December 13.   The game will also be available nationally on DirecTV and Dish Network.  Sun Sports is formerly Sunshine Network.

SU was led by Chanae Early and Carletta Harrell who finished with 24 and 12 points respectively.  Early was named to the Classic all-tournament team.
