DURHAM – The Shaw women's bowling team rallied from the loser’s bracket, winning four matches on the final day of competition, to capture the 2004 CIAA Women’s Bowling Championship at AMF Lanes.

After falling behind two games to none in the best of five match against Fayetteville State, Shaw won three-straight to win the first contest of the morning. The Lady Bears never looked back.

Shaw then blanked Bowie State, 3-0, in the semifinal match, avenging yesterday's loss which put them in the losers bracket and then swept previously unbeaten Winston-Salem State twice in the championship final to win the conference crown.

Tournament MVP Michelle Moore topped the Lady Bears as a clutch anchor bowler, while teammate Joia King was also earned a spot on the 2004 CIAA All-Tournament Team. Ashley Bowers, Ashley Graham and LaVonia Cromartie were also members of Shaw’s championship line-up.
