LADY BEARS UPSET CIAA EASTERN DIVISION LEADER VIRGINIA

NC - The
Shaw University Lady Bears got their biggest win of the season upsetting CIAA
Eastern Division leader Virginia State 81-74.
The win improved the Lady Bears to 6-4 in the Division and 14-12 overall,
while the Trojanettes took their first divisional loss of the season and
finished 9-1 and 17-8 overall.
Senior
guard Chiante Wester had her best game of the season, leading all scorers with
22 points, including 6 of 10 from behind the three point line. Senior guard Jamie McDonald finished with 18, junior forward Danielle
Jones 16 and sophomore guard April Collins 11 points.
The
Trojanettes were led by Alonna Marble and Rolynda Contee with 18 and 16 points
respectively.
This was the final regular season game for both
teams and despite the loss, the Trojanettes are still the Eastern Division
regular season champions and the Lady Bears are presently in third place.
