GOLDEN BULLS TAKE OT WIN OVER LADY BEARS

NC - It
was a nip and tuck battle from the start, but it was the Lady Golden Bulls of
J.C. Smith University getting the upper hand in overtime for a 98-93 win over
the Lady Bears of Shaw University. The
win improved the Golden Bulls to 17-7, while the Lady Bears dropped to 13-12.
Junior
forward Danielle Jones scored on lay-up with 12 seconds left in regulation
giving the Lady Bears a 85-83 lead, but it was Natasha Morgan’s jumper with
two seconds on the clock that sent the game into overtime.
The Golden Bulls took the lead for good with 4:55 left on a lay-up by Joi
Surrant and she also scored seven of their 13 overtime points.
Senior
guard Chiante Wester led five Lady Bears in double figures with 21 points. Also
in double digits was sophomore center Latasha Shipman 18 points, Danielle Jones
15 points, April Collins 12 points and Patrice Hearns with 10 points.
