Shaw women's basketball player Kiarsha Curtis won Athletic Director's Award for the Female Athlete of the Year.  Curtis helped lead the Lady Bears to a 32-2 record, third-straight CIAA Tournament Championship, 2005 South Atlantic Regional Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite 8.

For the second-straight year, Curtis was named CIAA Tournament MVP as well as All-CIAA.  She was named South Atlantic Region Player of the Year as well as a Daktronics All-American.  The senior from Capital Heights MD averaged a career best 18.4 points per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range and averaging 3.5 steals per game, all of which ranked her in the top 35 in the nation.
