Shipman, is one of the most versatile players in the history of Shaw
University’s Women’s Basketball program, enters her third season as an
assistant Women’s Basketball coach at Shaw University. Graduating with a
Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management and a determined mind
she began her journey as an Assistant at her Alma Mata.
After joining the coaching staff in 2004-2005 seasons, she remains as an added incentive to the Women’s Basketball Program. A contributor to the accomplishments of becoming 2005 & 2006 CIAA Champions, 2005 Black National College Champions, 2005 & 2006 Eastern Division Champions and 2005 & 2006 Regional Champions.
Some of Shipman’s duties consist of strength and conditioning of women’s basketball athletes, coordinator of Community and Public Relations, Budget Coordinator, Organizer of Summer Camp and post player development.
She played for the Shaw University Lady Bears team in 2000-2004. She is a member of 2003 CIAA Champions, 2004 CIAA Champions, 2003 National Black College Championships, 2004 National Black College Champions, 2003 and 2004 Eastern Division Champions.
The 6-1 forward who wore No.50 was named to 1000’s pt. legacy Club. Grabbing over 700 rebounds in her career made her a sure candidate for the CIAA Honors in her junior and senior year as the Lady Bears claimed back-to-back conference crowning.
Shipman, A native of Riegelwood, N.C., enjoyed a successful career at East Columbus High school in Lake Waccamaw, N.C. The only female athlete to receive All conference Columbus County Honors for two consecutive years 1998 & 1999 (record still standing).
