RECRUITING COORDINATOR

Charrisse Perry enters her third season as assistant women’s basketball coach at Shaw University. Prior to joining the Shaw University staff, Perry was a member of the Shaw University Lady Bears basketball team. As a senior Perry helped her team achieve a 31-3 record, the second most wins in Shaw history and winning the 2003 CIAA Championship as well as the university’s first Sweet Sixteen appearance. After winning a CIAA Championship Perry continued her journey on the road to success, earning her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Mass Communication in 2003 and starting her coaching career with her former team.

Joining the staff in 2004-05, Perry has helped the Lady Bears continue their “Legacy”, gaining the most wins in the University’s history with a 32-2 record. Along with a 3 peat CIAA Championship, 3 peat National Black College Championship, the University’s first South Atlantic Regional Championship and a 2005 NCAA Elite 8 appearance. In the 2005-06 season Perry assisted the Lady Bears to a 29-5 record, their fourth consecutive CIAA Championship, Back to Back South Atlantic Regional Championship as well a Back to Back 2006 NCAA Elite 8 appearance.

Perry’s responsibilities as Recruiting Coordinator is to insure that the Lady Bears maintain their dominate level of play that they have had over the past years. Along with recruiting Perry is involved with all aspects of the Lady Bears program including scouting, film exchange, player development, monitoring academic progress and summer camps.

Charrisse is a member of the WBCA and was elected Conference Captain for the CIAA at the NCAA convention held in Boston April 2006.
