It was not even three full minutes before Head Coach Jacques Curtis made his first substitution with a “fresh five.” Shortly thereafter, the Lady Bears deposited their first two points of the game after #21 NaKeisha “Hoop Queen” Anthony (Guard / Forward / 5 – 11 / Senior / Charlotte, NC) dished to #25 Jamie “Guru” Goshen (Guard / 6 – 0 / Senior / Norfolk, VA) for the lay-up. The Lady Bears led 30 – 25 at the intermission.

Bozeman opened up the second half of play by burying her fourth three-pointer, but the Lady Panthers prowled back to be within two, 35 – 33 Shaw. Nevertheless, the Lady Bears convinced the Lady Panthers to take a full timeout at the 15:16 mark after #15 Tammy Lanier (Guard / 5 – 6 / Freshman / Atlanta, GA) swiped a steal to complete a three point play just before Bozeman walked to the lane to finish with another two points. Shaw led 45 – 33. The 12 point margin was Shaw’s largest lead of the half. Once again, VUU found themselves within reach of Shaw, 50 – 45 Shaw. Yet, two plays later, #3 Tanisha “Make It Rain” McGaughey (Guard / 5 – 11 / Sophomore / Norfolk, VA) erupted fans out of their seats after she swatted her third shot and then danced to the lane with the ball cuffed in her right hand, only to release it up for the lay-up with her left hand.
