Goshen Scored Game High 21 in Lady Bears 93-69 Win Over St. Paul’s

Raleigh, NC – Jamie Goshen (6’0, JR, Guard, Chesapeake, VA) scored a game high 21 points in the Lady Bears (14-8; 10-5 CIAA) 93-69 win over the Lady Tigers of St. Paul’s (9-11; 5-8 CIAA). Shaw took the lead in the first half and never looked back. The Lady Bears were up by as many as 23 points in the first half to take the lead 44-24 at the half. In the second half the Lady Bears really got things rolling as they shot an outstanding 60.7% from the floor and scored 49 points to go on to defeat Saint Paul’s by 24 points.
The Lady Bears shot 48.4% on the night scoring 38 points in the paint, 18 points off 15 St. Paul’s turnovers, and 42 points off the bench. Adding to the Lady Bears win was Carletta Harrell (5’10, SR, Forward, East Cleveland, OH) who scored 14 points on the night. Standing out for Shaw was Jan’el Baxter (6’0, FR, Guard, Raleigh, NC) who snatched 16 rebounds and nine points and Nicky Souter (6’2, JR, Forward, Brooklyn, NY) who grabbed 10 rebounds and scored five points. Leading the Lady Tigers was Katrina Wright who scored 17 points in their effort.
The Lady Bears will return to action on Saturday, February 10th as they to take on the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
