Shipman Scores 1000th-Point as Shaw Rolls

Senior forward Latasha Shipman scored her 1,000th point, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds as 16th-ranked Shaw rolled past Elizabeth City State 87-60 at Spaulding Gymnasium.

Shipman put Shaw (5-0, 10-0, 18-2) on the board first with a jumper as the Lady Bears trailed 3-2 early in the first half.  Shipman’s second jumper, which turned out to be the landmark points gave the Bears the lead at 8-7 with 17 minutes seven seconds left in the second half and the Lady Bears never trailed again.

Margiella Mobley led Shaw with 19 points.  Shaneka Ellis led the Lady Vikings (2-3, 3-6, 7-11) with 15 points.

Shaw will be in action on Tuesday as the play at St. Paul’s at 5:30 p.m.
