Shaw Devastates St. Andrews

Livingstone College hosted its first Lady Blue Bears Classic in William Trent Gymnasium in Salisbury, NC. Shaw defeated St. Andrews 93-56.

The Lady Bears seemed small in numbers but played big on the court. The Lady Bears (3-0) opened the game with a 14-3 run in the first five minutes of the game and dominated the remainder of the first half shooting 60 percent from the floor and leading 48-26 at halftime.

Shaw came out in the second half of the game with the same attitude that they had in the first, which was to win and took a commanding lead over St. Andrews Presbyterian (0-2) and there was no looking back for the Lady Bears.  St. Andrews never gave up hope throughout the game, but they had no answer for the fast Shaw attack that sank 51 percent of their shots on the night.

Jessica Hawkins (27 points) and Kiarsha Curtis (20 points) led the way for Shaw, while Saint Andrews was paced by Ashley Mitchell’s, 12 points and Erin Fournir’s 10 points.
