Shaw a Powerhouse in Blue Bear Classic

The second day of the Lady Blue Bears Classic featured the Hornets of Morris College against the Lady Bears of Shaw.

The Lady Bears brought their run-n-gun style of play to the court, this time against the Hornets of Morris College and won 85-45.  The Lady Bears (3-0) dominated the first half, as they totally shut down the Morris College (2-4) offense, limiting the Lady Hornets to only eight made shots from the field. Shaw sank 15 of their 35 first half shots to take a commanding 32-19 halftime lead.

 

After intermission the Lady Bears refused to let loose their tight grip over Morris as their defense compiled 21 steals and made 49 percent of their shots for the game.  Latasha Shipman (23 points 11 rebounds) and Kiarsha Curtis (20 points 5 assists) paved the way for Shaw, while teammates Jessica Hawkins (18 points) and Latonya Hall (17 points 6 assist) also contributed. Morris received a double double from Evoney Shaw (12 points 12 rebounds) and 10 points from Jamie Hamilton.
