Marcus Clarke enters his third season as director of compliance at Shaw University.  A 1990 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in physical education, he enters his 12th season in intercollegiate athletics.

Clarke’s responsibilities include making sure the athletic department at Shaw meets all NCAA and CIAA regulations in addition to monitoring of student-athlete academic progress regarding eligibility.

Prior to coming to Shaw, Clarke served two years as compliance coordinator at Virginia Union University.  He also served as head athletic trainer for 11 years and head track coach for seven years, earning CIAA Coach of the Year honors in 2000.

Clarke is married to the former Sabrina Life of Camden County, Ga. and they have two children Marissa (6) and Maurice (2).
