DIANTHIA FORD-KEE                                                                                                                                                  ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR/                                                                                                       SENIOR WOMAN ADMINISTRATOR

Dianthia Ford-Kee is entering her third year as the Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator.  She was appointed to this position in May of 2004 after successful 14 year tenure as Shaw University’s head softball and volleyball coach.  Ford-Kee assists the administration and the Director of Athletics with the daily operation of the intercollegiate athletics program.  Her responsibilities include financial planning and budgeting; special events planning, contract negotiations, compliance; and serves as representative to University committees and community activities.  She also serves as the advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and liaison to the University Gender Equity Committee.

She is a member of the NCAA Committee for Women’s Athletics and was on the sub-committee that developed the initial Senior Women’s Administrator brochure to educate the NCAA Membership of the role of the SWA.  Ford-Kee also served on the initial sub-committee that developed the Senior Woman Administrator brochure to educate the NCAA Women of the Year Award.  Ford-Kee also served as the Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association’s (CIAA) representative for the NCAA Division II Management Council.

Ford-Kee is in the SU record books as the most successful volleyball and softball coach in school history.  Her volleyball teams have compiled a record of 247-158 in 14 seasons as head coach.  They won seven straight CIAA Eastern Division Titles and won the CIAA Championship in 1995.  She was named CIAA Coach of the Year in 1995 and 2001.  In softball she compiled an overall 309-207 record guiding them to the CIAA crown in 1994, 1995 and 2003.  Her teams won the Eastern Division Title four straight years (2001-04).  In 2003, she guided the Lady Bears to SU’s first NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament appearance.

She earned her BA Degree in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University in 1982 and a master’s degree in Public Affairs from Northern Illinois University in 1984.  She is a married to Preston Kee, Jr and the mother of three, Brandon and Fannezha Ford and Iman Kee.
