CARY, N.C. - The Shaw University women's cross country team completed the HBCU Challenge Saturday, Oct. 7 at the WakeMed Soccer Park with a 13th finish overall and 11th place finish amongst Division II institutions.
The Lady Bears finished the 5k race with a total of 364 points and an average time of 28:16. Freshman Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) led the race for Shaw with a finish time of 22:32.1 for 31st out of a total of 94 runners and 20th amongst DII runners.
Sophomore Kyla Sanders (Hampton, VA) posted a time of 28:18.5 for 81st while senior LaCherie Clarke (Raleigh, NC) completed the race 82nd overall (28:37.9).
Hampton University took home first place with a total of 25 points, followed by North Carolina A&T State (47 points) and Fayetteville State (100 points) for second and third place, respectively.
The Lady Bears will return to action Friday, Oct. 13 at the Blue Bear Invitational hosted by Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C.
