RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 34th annual Greensboro Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. at Hagan Stone Park.
The women's 5k race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., followed by the men's 8k race at 1:45 p.m. Shaw will be one of 40 plus universities, including 2,000 athletes.
Both the Bears and Lady Bears will return to action Saturday after having last weekend off. The men's team has been led by freshman standout Mike Lagat (Eldoret, Kenya) whom placed 14th overall at the Adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 15. He came in with a time of 16:49.2 for 14th out of 104 runners.
On the women's side, senior Briona May (Hampton, VA) leads the Lady Bears squad. She has been the top runner for Shaw in the last two meets, including their last outing at the Adidas XC Challenge where she finished 45th overall with a time of 23:36.3 out of 96 runners.
Following Saturday's meet, Shaw will look to participate in the HBCU Challenge in Cary, N.C. on Oct. 7.
