RALEIGH, NC – After a weekend off for both Shaw University men's and women's cross country, Shaw returns to action this weekend as the Bears and Lady Bears will compete at the 27th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24th.
Shaw will be competing against 40 institutions in two races. The women's 5k race will begin at 1 p.m., while the men's 8k race will start at 1:45 p.m. at Hagan Stone Park.
In the Bears last outing, DayQuan Chapman (Winterville, NC) paced Shaw with a time of 31:21.72 for 26th overall, while Mauricio Gonzalez (Leon, Mexico) placed 34th (32:05.73). As for the Lady Bears, Briona May (Hampton, VA) led the pack for SU, finishing 32nd (24:16.79).
Both teams will look to improve upon last season's appearance, where the Bears finished seventh and the women tabbed eighth for Division II and III.
Following Saturday's action, Shaw will return to Greensboro, NC on Saturday, Oct. 1 to participate in the Hagan Stone Classic.
