PETERSBURG, Va. - The Shaw University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Lincoln (Pa.) University in the opening round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Volleyball Championship. The Lady Bears advanced to CIAA Semifinals with the three-game sweep, winning the match by the scores of 25-4, 25-9 and 25-6.
Shaw hit .459 for the contest, including a match-high .409 in the third set. The Lady Bears held the Lady Lions (4-21) in the negatives all three sets.
Junior and All-CIAA Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) led the way with eight kills while sophomore's Aisja Jones (Red Oak, TX) and Amari Fletcher (Phoenix, AZ) chipped in six attacks apiece. Junior and All-CIAA setter Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez (San Juan, PR) collected a match-high 17 assists while junior Christine Ngeve (Greensboro, NC) garnered 11 dimes.
Shaw (26-4) will face Virginia State University (11-16) on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the semi-finals at the VSU Multipurpose Center. Live coverage will be available on www.shawbears.com.
