SHAW LADY BEARS SWEEP BOWIE STATE IN CONVINCING FASHION, REMAINS UNBEATEN IN CONFERENCE PLAY

PETERSBURG, Va. -  The Shaw University women's volleyball swept Bowie State University, 3-0 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up finale Sunday afternoon in the VSU Multipurpose Center. The Lady Bears (16-2, 8-0 CIAA) beat the Bulldogs 25-10, 25-10 and 25-6 to extend their win streak to 11 and remain perfect in the CIAA.

 

BSU sits 0-15 overall and 0-9 in the league.

 

Shaw had pretty balanced effort from each player this afternoon as all 16 players on the roster saw action today led by junior Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) who paced the Lady Bears with a match-high six kills and three digs. Juniors Jazmine Johnson-McCoy (Seattle, WA), Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) and sophomore Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, LA) contributed five kills apiece.

 

Junior Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez (San Juan, PR) handed out 13 assists and senior Tiffany Brooks (Efland, NC) finished with 10 digs while Klink recorded five.

 

The Lady Bears will return to action Thursday, Oct. 5 when they host division foe Winston-Salem State University at 6 p.m. for Greek Night in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Fans are asked to arrive early due to limited seating.
