VOLLEYBALL FALLS TWICE TO CONCLUDE THE WEST CHESTER TOURNAMENT

WEST CHESTER, Pa.  – The Shaw University women's volleyball team concluded the West Chest Tournament falling in three sets to West Chester and West Virginia Wesleyan University. With the setbacks, the Lady Bears are now 0-4 in season play.

 

Match 1: West Chester 3, Shaw 0

The Lady Bears trailed 4-1 in the opening set and got within two points 9-7 in favored of the Rams but that would be the closest SU would get as WC punched a 9-1 run in route to the set win.

 

Shaw had a five-point lead in the second stanza but the Rams managed to put together a 6-1 mark to tie the match at 14-all. WC would then score six-straight points to seal for the win. In the third set, the match was tied three times with the last at 6-all before the Rams mounted a 5-0 scoring advantage in route to the win.

 
 

Match 2: West Virginia Wesleyan 3, Shaw 0

Shaw was topped by the Bobcats with scores 25-18, 20-17 and 25-20. (Please note that statistics were not available upon press release.)

 

The Lady Bears will continue its regular season action as they return home to host St. Andrews in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 7. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
