RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's volleyball team combined for 75 kills and 62 assists on the day to finish the tri-match 2-0 after blanking Johnson &Wales and Morris on Saturday afternoon inside CC Spaulding Gymnasium.
The victories mark the Lady Bears with a 9-6 overall record after falling to Winston-Salem State on Thursday.
The Lady Bears hit .361 in the opening match of the day to sweep the Lady Wildcats 3-0.
Against Morris, Shaw hit an impressive .500 in the opening set en route to the 25-12 victory, followed by a 25-14 win in the second set before closing out the third with a unanimous 25-9 in the third set for the 3-0 sweep.
Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) paced the Lady Bears with 12 kills and Olmeda-Gonzalez dishing out 13 assists.
The Lady Bears will look to carry that same momentum on Monday when they travel to Fayetteville State, NC to face the Lady Broncos for a CIAA Southern Division matchup. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
