RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's track and field team were recognized both by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today as the Lady Bears were named 2018 All-Academic Team and a total of three Shaw student-athletes were named All-Academic Individuals.
In order to be named an All-Academic Team, a program must have a cumulative team GPA of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Under the leadership of head coach Nadia Alexander-Pompey, Shaw posted a GPA of 3.00.
Individually, Tiara Derosa (Sandy's, Bermuda), Laquell Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) and Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) earned All-Academic honors for Shaw.
In order to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
