WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD VENTURES OFF TO AGGIE INVITATIONAL FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

RALEIGH, NC – Coming off a good team performance at the JCSU Invitational last weekend, the Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team will venture off to the 2017 Aggie Invitational Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 at the Irwin Belk Track hosted by North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC.

 

The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's javelin throw and 100 meter hurdles at 5 p.m. on Friday. For field events on Saturday, the triple jump will start at 9 a.m. while the 4x100 meter relay is slated for 11 a.m. Live results will be posted live at www.halfmiletiming.com.

 

In their last outing, the Lady Bears recorded eight top-10 finishes at the JCSU Invitational. Some highlights of last weekend's events included freshman Tiara Derosa' s (Sandy's, Bermuda) fifth place finish in the discus throw (39.99 meters) for the third-consecutive meet. Senior Destinee Williams (Leesburg, FL) earned sixth in with a time of 14.18 in the 100 meter hurdles to provisionally qualify for nationals while Shaw's 4x100 meter relay team finished third overall with a record time of 48.35.

 

This will be the Lady Bears last meet before the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor Championships that will be held on April 21-22 in Bowie, Md.
