Lady Bears Track Team Finishes Fifth at CIAA Championships
(Petersburg, VA) - The Shaw women's track team finished fifth at the CIAA Championships, and Raychelle Johnson was given All-CIAA honors for her second place finishes in both the 1500-meter and 3000-meter runs.
A number of Lady Bears set season-best marks for the team at the meet. Johnson's time in the 3000-meter run, 12:30.91, was her best on the season, giving her second place in the race.
In the 100-meter dash, Delilah Badgett had a season-best 12.35 second mark in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash to earn a spot in the finals. She finished eighth in the final.
Joi Briscoe finished fifth in the javelin throw, with a toss of 25.85 meters. Kiara Arrington posted the Lady Bears best long jump of the season at 5.24 meters, good for eighth in the competition.
Other season highs for the team included Shareka Mitchell's 15.86 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles and her 1:12.73 in the 400 meter hurdles.
