LADY BEARS TENNIS FALLS IN SEASON OPENER

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Shaw University women's tennis was blanked by Division I, Liberty University 7-0 on their opening debut of their 2018 season. The Lady Bears (0-1) faced a tough non-conference opponent in the Lady Flames (4-3) and got swept in the doubles to fall 0-3 to start the match.

Senior Daniela Vanko (Montreal, Quebec) and freshman Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) started off the match in the No. 1 slot. Junior Andrijana Martic (Belgrade, Serbia) and senior Marilyne Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon) competed in the second doubles match but fell 6-2 while senior Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) and sophomore Helena Fekete (Belgrade, Serbia) closed out the doubles portion of the evening falling, 6-2.

The Lady Bears got swept in the singles matches to conclude the evening. Shaw returns to action against Meredith on Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.
