WOMEN’S TENNIS BLANKS JOHNSON C. SMITH, 9-0

RALEIGH, NC – With a 9-0 home victory over the visiting Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls, the Shaw University women's tennis team improved to 13-2 overall and 9-1 against conference opponents this season Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bears remain unbeaten at home and have stretched its win-streak to four games.

In doubles, Shaw won all three sets, taking 8-0 decisions in both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Lady Bears would pull out an 8-1 win at the No. 3 doubles.

Daniela Vanko (Montreal, Canada) took a sweep of 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles, following Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot. Marilyne Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon) earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 singles while Andrijana Martic (Belgrade) held on for a 6-2, 6-1 decision at the No. 4 slot.

Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) and Helena Fekete (Subotica, Serbia) would secure the victory with 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-0 wins at the No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

Shaw will travel to Winston-Salem State on Sunday, Apr. 2 for a 2 p.m. matchup.
