SALISBURY, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team earned its eighth Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory on the season on Thursday afternoon when the Lady Bears took a 9-0 victory over Livingstone College for a CIAA Southern Division contest.
Shaw (12-2, 8-1 CIAA) improved to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in the CIAA while LC dropped to 1-11, 1-8.
Shaw got all three points in doubles play. Two ended quickly as Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) and Helena Fekete (Subotica, Serbia) rolled to an 8-0 win at the No. 2 doubles and Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) and Andrijana Martic (Belgrade) won by the same at the No. 3 doubles. Daniella Vanko (Montreal, Canada) and Marilyne Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon) pulled out an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles
The Lady Bears defeated all singles by the scores of 6-0, 6-0 in each of the six singles to cruise to the season sweep and victory.
Shaw will return home to host Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, Apr. 1 at 2 p.m.
