LADY BEARS TENNIS SWEEPS PAST JOHNSON C. SMITH, 9-0

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team swept Johnson C. Smith, 9-0 in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division match Tuesday afternoon.

 

The Lady Bears (11-2, 7-1 CIAA) clinched wins in all three doubles as Daniela Vanko (Montreal, Canada) and Marilyne Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon) took a 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot. Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) and Helena Fekete (Subotica, Serbia) won the No. 2 doubles, 8-2 and Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) and Andrijana Martic (Belgrade) registered an 8-0 win at the No. 3 doubles.

 

Singles provided a challenge for the Lady Bears but they stepped up to the task as all Lady Bears won in straight sets.

 

Shaw will return to action Thursday, Mar. 30 at Livingstone College at 1 p.m.
