Shaw Opens Tournament Play With 6-2 Win Over Bowie State

The Lady Bears began their defense of their two straight CIAA Women's Tennis title with an easy 6-2 win over Bowie State.

After forfeiting a doubles and a singles match because they were down one player, Shaw roared back, taking the remaining two doubles matches, and then scoring four 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles to take the best-of-nine match.  The final singles match was unfinished.

All-CIAA performers Lolia Kienka, Vimbai Mawisire and Evan Okafor anchored the Shaw lineup, and Aline Ferreira also brought home the 6-0,. 6-0 score. 

The Lady Bears now move to the second round where they will take on Virginia State at 9:00 am Friday.
