RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's soccer teams will travel to Brevard, N.C. for a soccer doubleheader against the Tornadoes of Brevard College on Saturday, Oct. 28. The women's game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., while the men's game will kick off at approximately 2:30 p.m. from Ives-Lemel Field.

Saturday's doubleheader will mark the first-ever meeting between the two institutions in program history.

On the men's side, the Bears are 4-6-2 on the season, with their most recent loss coming in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Barton. Junior Thilo Wilke (Karlstadt, Germany) who has 26 total points (12 goals, two assists) on the year leads Shaw's high-powered offense.

The Tornados are riding a three-match winning streak, and have won five out of their past six matches in the month of October to improve their record to 7-7 on the season. On offense, Jesse Omezi has led Brevard with a team-high 12 points (five goals, two assists) on the season.

As for the women, the Shaw Lady Bears (3-10) will look to snap a two-game losing skid against Brevard on Saturday. Shaw is coming off a 2-1 loss at Johnson & Wales (NC) Thursday. Freshman Chelsey Hunter (Savannah, GA) scored the Lady Bears lone goal while freshman goalkeeper Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) recorded six saves.

Freshman Leslie Mendoza (Miami Beach, FL) leads the Lady Bears with four goals (eight points) on the year.

Brevard welcomes the Lady Bears with a 10-6 overall record. The Tornados have had 14 different players on the offensive end of the field record at least one point this season, and has been led on offense by junior Megan Shina, with 23 total points on the season (11 goals, one assist).

The Tornados are coming off 3-0 shutout against Wesleyan on Oct. 22. Brevard is 3-3 at home this season.

Following Saturday's clash, Shaw men's and women's soccer will travel to Washington Adventist for its season finale on Oct. 31 with the women's game set for 12 noon and the men's game at 2 p.m.
