CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Johnson & Wales University on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Frazier Park. The Lady Bears fell to 3-10 overall, while JWU improved to 10-4.
Shaw was outshot 11-3, including an 8-1 frame in the second half.
After a scoreless first half and a 1-0 disadvantage in the second frame, the Lady Bears got on board thanks to a goal from freshman Chelsey Hunter (Savannah, GA) at the 51st minute to even the score at 1-1. The Wildcats would break through again when Danielle Doyle scored her second goal of the game and game winner at the 72nd minute.
Freshman Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) finished with six saves for the Lady Bears defense.
Shaw has two more regular season contests for the 2017 slate that will include two road games at Brevard on Oct. 28 at 12 noon and Washington Adventist on Oct. 31 also at 12 noon.
