LADY BEARS EARN 4-0 SHUTOUT AT CHRISTENDOM

FRONT LOYAL, Va.  – Freshman Leslie Mendoza (Miami Beach, FL) scored the game's first three goals to help the Shaw University women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Christendom College Saturday, Oct. 7.

The win improves the Lady Bears to 3-8 overall while the Lady Crusaders dropped to 5-7 on the season.

The Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first half before punching three led by Mendoza in the second frame. Shaw registered 23 shots and 17 on goal while Christendom tallied five shots and three on goal. Freshman Chelsey Hunter (Savannah, GA) scored her first career-goal at the 79th minute to put the cap on the win for Shaw.

The win is the third shutout for the Lady Bears this season as freshman Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) recorded her first shutout on the season with three saves at the goalkeeper position.

Shaw will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Chowan for a 12 p.m. match.
