RALIEGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's and women's basketball will host Claflin University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) doubleheader Saturday, Nov. 24 inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The women's game will tipoff at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.
General admission is $15, senior citizens, military and students with ID is $10, and all Shaw students are free with valid ID.

The Women's Game:
The Lady Bears welcome the Lady Panthers to Spaulding with a 2-2 overall record. Shaw defeated Clark Atlanta (79-57) and most recently Puerto Rico-Bayamon (76-71) for a two-game winning streak. As a team, the Lady Bears average 72.8 points per outing, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 35.6 percent the 3-point line while grabbing 39.0 rebounds a night. Senior guard Tahniya Sweatt (Pasadena, CA) is the team's leading scorer with 21.8 points per game while senior guard KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) posts 12.8 points per outing. Defensively, junior center Macy Keen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) has a team-best 10.8 rebounds per game while Martin and Sweatt account for 5.8 and 5.0 boards, respectively.
Claflin women are 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA after earning a 72-67 win over Saint Augustine's in overtime Nov. 17. The Lady Panthers average 62.6 points and 39.4 rebounds per game while shooting 33.7 percent from the floor and 29.8 percent from long distance. Ashley Fields is the team's best offensive weapon and rebounder with 18.4 ppg and 6.0 rbg while Dashia Jackson and Deja Dickens both chart 12.6 and 10.2, respectively.
Shaw and Claflin have not met since 2006, Saturday's contest will mark just the third meeting between the two programs with Shaw leading the series 2-0 overall.
The Men's Game:
The Bears (3-2) are looking to snap a two game losing skid entering Saturday's contest. Shaw suffered an 80-72 setback at home to Francis Marion Tuesday. Shaw is scoring 82.4 points per game including 47.2 percent shooting and 35 percent from long distance led by junior guard Amir Hinton (Philadelphia, PA) who puts up 32.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per night while junior guard Davon Dillard (Gary, IN) leads the team on the glass with 6.2 rebounds to go along with the team's second best in scoring at 13.6 points. The Bears grab 35 rebounds per outing as a team.
CLAF (2-3, 1-0 CIAA) produces 79.8 points per game (47 percent in field goals and 40 percent from the 3-point line). The Panthers are coming off a 95-92 overtime loss to Limestone Wednesday, they defeated Saint Augustine's 83-71 for their first conference win of the season on Nov. 19. The Panthers are led by Triston Thompson (16.8 ppg, 4.6 rbg) while Danny Brown and Jaimik Moore contribute 15 and 14 points respectively. Defensively, CLAF grab 38 boards a night led by Cornellius Reynolds with 7.8.
Saturday's contest marks the seventh meeting between Shaw and Claflin on the men's side with the all-time record being tied at 3-3 overall.
