BOCA RATON, FL - In just her second game as a member of the Shaw University women's basketball team, sophomore Lervencia Johnson-Tyler (Many, LA) recorded her first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds but the Lady Bears were defeated by Saint Leo University, 81-54 on the first day of the Lynn University women's basketball holiday classic Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Bears (3-7) were outscored in all four quarters, including a 10-point deficit in the second frame that resulted in a 41-27 spread at halftime.
The Lady Bears shooting woes continued in both the third and fourth quarter, Shaw was responsible for 2-of-14 shooting in the fourth stanza as Johnson-Tyler led the offensive attack with six points.
SLU (6-6) was led by Ragen Dotson who scored 19 points and five rebounds while three other players all finished with 12 points apiece.
Shaw will look to complete the Lynn University Holiday Classic tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. against the Fighting Knights.
