Thursday's tip-off will also mark the first time head women's basketball coaches Jacques Curtis of Shaw and Antonio Davis of Elizabeth City State go head-to-head in eight years. Prior to ECSU, Davis spent the last four season as an assistant coach under Curtis.
The evening's nightcap will include the men's game with the Bears and Vikings at approximately 8 p.m. It will be the 72nd time both teams meet on the court as Shaw defeated ECSU, 73-67 during last season's campaign on the road.
The Bears (5-4, 1-0 CIAA) will look to extend their win-streak to four-games against the Vikings (3-2, 0-0 CIAA). Shaw flushed the Hawks of Chowan 87-80 for their first CIAA win on the season in their last outing. Senior Savon Goodman (Philadelphia, PA) recorded his second double-double of the season with 33 points and 13 rebounds while senior DeAngleo Stephens-Bell (Jacksonville, FL) produced 20 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals.
