RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's basketball team will travel eight minutes from campus to face William Peace University in a nonconference contest Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. inside the Hermann Center.
Tonight's game is a makeup tilt that was originally scheduled on Nov. 30. The Lady Bears are coming off an 82-74 loss in their home opener against Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday night. Senior LaQuisha Taylor (Charlotte, NC) scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
Taylor leads the offensive attack for Shaw this season, averaging 23. 7 points per outing and 7.7 rebounds a night. Senior KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) adds 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds.
Shaw stands 1-5 on the year thus far.
WPU is 1-3 on the season; the Pacers are coming off a 79-69 win against Salem on Dec. 3. Mikayla Ray leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game while Whitney Walker and Deja Umstead round out the double figure scoring for the Pacers with 15.3 and 10.8 points, respectively.
WPU, a member of the USA South Athletic Conference is NCAA Division III institution.
Following Wednesday's clash, the Lady Bears will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 12 to host Chowan in CIAA action at 6 p.m. inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
