WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO WASHINGTON ADVENTIST TUESDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. -  The Shaw University women's basketball team will look to continue their winning momentum on Tuesday, Nov. 21 when the Lady Bears travel to Tacoma, Md., for a nonconference tilt with Washington Adventist University at 5 p.m.

 

In their last outing, the Lady Bears earned their first win of the 2017-18 season at Clark Atlanta, Saturday by the score 71-62. Shaw was led by seniors LaQuisha Taylor (Charlotte, NC) and KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) who both recorded double-doubles in the contest. Taylor charted 22 points and 11 rebounds while Martin registered 20 points and 10 rebounds.

 

In three games played thus far, the Lady Bears are averaging 64.0 points per game, including 37.4 percent from the floor, 25 percent from the 3-point line and 68 percent from the foul line. Defensively, Shaw is responsible for 38.3 rebounds a night.

 

As for WAU, the Lady Shock are 4-2 on the season, having lost 72-66 to Point Park on Sunday, Nov. 19. Courtney Jenkins scored 24 points while Amber Morman added 12 points in the contest.  The Lady Shock have won two-straight at home so far on the young season.

 

Following Tuesday's game, Shaw will remain on the road for a contest with Cheyney University in the Virginia State University women's basketball tournament on Friday, Nov. 24 at the VSU Multipurpose Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
