Lady Bears Power Past ECSU 69-50

RALEIGH, NC- Strong defense in the second half powered Shaw past ECSU in the first home game of the season Tuesday evening. The game was considered a non-conference game for both  teams who will open their CIAA season on January 1st at Elizabeth City State University.

Verdine Warner led the Lady Bears with a team high of 14 points in the 69-50 win against the Lady Vikings. Bryann Guyton recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Bears held a 38-30 lead going into halftime and would come out of the locker room to dominate the second half. Shaw would go on to score 12 points in the paint and 13 point off the bench in the second half winning the game 69-50.

Defensively the Lady Bears forced the Lady Vikings to commit 30 turnovers during the course of the game.

Jada Jefferies paced the Lady Vikings with a game high of 19 points. The Lady Vikings only pulled down 34 rebounds during the competition.
