[Raleigh, NC] – Shaw's Aslea was today named the CIAA Player of the Week in recognition of her performances the week ending February 4.

Williams (Sr., C, 6-1, Akron, OH) averaged a double-double in Shaw's two games this past week.  In the Lady Bears' loss to Johnson C. Smith, Williams had 19 points and pulled in 15 rebounds.  In Shaw's win over Fayetteville State, she tossed in 21 points and had 10 rebounds.

After last week's action, the Lady Bears are now 14-6, 9-1 in the CIAA and 3-1 in the CIAA's Southern Division.  Their loss Saturday snapped a ten-game winning streak.

Shaw returns to action tonight when they travel to Salisbury, NC to take on Livingstone in a 5:30 p.m. tip.  They do not return home until February 13 when they host Johnson C. Smith in the annual Pink Zone game.  That game will tip at 6:00 p.m. and be held at C. C. Spaulding Gymnasium on the Shaw campus.
