Buford Named National Player of the Week

(Raleigh, NC)-   Shaw's Kyria Buford was named Heritage Sports Radio Network's Division II Player of the Week. 

 Buford (F, 6-0, Jr., Charlotte, NC), the second leading scorer in the CIAA, had another sterling week for the Lady Bears. Over the Lady Bears' three games last week, she averaged a double-double with 17 points and 10.7 rebounds. In Shaw's lopsided 89-60 win over Lincoln, she collected her seventh double-double of the year with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  In Shaw's rivalry game against Saint Augustine's - a 92-79 win - Buford had 22 points. 

Each week, HSRN nominates two HBCU players nationally to compete in a fan vote for Player of the Week. 

The Lady Bears return to action Saturday, January 29 when they travel to Salisbury, NC, to take on Livingstone.  Tip is 5:30 p.m.
