SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO WINSTON-SALEM STATE FOR KEY DIVISIONAL DOUBLEHEADER

RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University softball team will wrap up its 2017 regular season with a key doubleheader matchup at Winston-Salem State University Thursday, starting at 1 p.m.

Coming off an 8-0, 8-0 sweep on the road by Fayetteville State last Saturday, Shaw (6-27, 4-10 CIAA) enters Thursday's contest looking to get into the CIAA Tournament with two wins against a tough Rams (11-29, 7-6 CIAA) team who recently split with Saint Augustine's on April 22, 8-3 and 2-7.

In division standings, the Lady Bears are currently in fifth place with a 2-6 record while the Rams are in fourth with a 4-4 division frame. Two wins by Shaw could potentially earn them a birth in the CIAA Softball Tournament which will be held May 4-6 in Petersburg, Va.

The Lady Bears have not made it to the CIAA Softball Tournament since 2010.
